October 19th 2020, Press Release:
No Consumenta trade fair 2020
On Monday afternoon, the City of Nuremberg withdrew its permission to hold Consumenta 2020. The reason given for this short-term withdrawal is the increasing number of infections in the city of Nuremberg and throughout Bavaria.
Nürnberg – “We very much regret that Consumenta cannot take place. We are convinced that Consumenta would have been an important signal for the regional economy right now and that the hygiene concept developed with the responsible authorities would have made a safe visit to the fair possible for everyone,“ so Henning und Thilo Könicke, Managing Director of the Consumenta organizer AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen in Nürnberg.
Consumenta would have been the first trade fair to be held at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center since March and was long awaited not only by exhibitors, visitors and the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. “A successful trade fair restart with Consumenta would also have been of existential importance for other economic sectors in Nuremberg, such as service companies, exhibition stand builders, retailers, the hotel and gastronomy industry.“, so Henning und Thilo Könicke.
Consumenta would have started on Saturday, October 24 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. Many of the 650 exhibitors had already started setting up.
